Shera Summer is an abstract expressionist painter whose artwork
is greatly influenced by her love affair with coastal life, travel and the sea.Growing up on the east coast art was always a part of Shera’s life. Her many memories of days spent sailing the Chesapeake and traveling to beach towns up and down the east coast always played a part in her expression. After high school Shera studied Illustration, Interior Design and the Healing Arts which she feels adds an element of "striking a harmonic chord" to all of her creative endeavors.In 2010 Shera moved to Santa Barbara, California where the Pacific ocean and coastal living sparked new life into her passionate artist's heart and call to create.As an artist Shera works primarily in acrylic and mixed media where coastal colors are often a part of her go to palette. Her process starts with music setting the stage for approaching a project with the energies of a playful adventure. From there she allows her intuition and the medium to lead the way layering movement, color and form and opening up to seeing what “wants to happen” next.
Her resulting artwork is intended to draw a viewer into a refreshing place of wonder, magic and rejuvenation in hopes to bring a little bit more joy and beauty into her collectors homes and the world.In 2020 Shera moved from Santa Barbara to Seattle where she is currently living near her son, daughter and son-in-law. There, she continues to explore coastal life and develop her craft. When Shera is not in the studio you can find her walking on a beach, exploring local shops, out on a run in the neighborhood, attending many of the area events or out having fun with family and friends.

The call to create my own destiny and honor my true self calling while stripping away everything that is not really me has been strong as of late. I think that this mini series is about preparing for the new while still remembering to have fun with the adventure of it all. There are always new things on the horizon that are still unwritten.

There is just something about the light, the salty misty air, the sounds of surf and seagulls that speaks to my soul. I love watching the clouds dance across the sky casting their journey onto the ever changing colors of the sea. It's amazing how it all seems so much bigger than life and at the same time makes me feel alive.

Sometimes I just need to wrap myself in dreamy shades of turquoise and blue. My soul colors to be sure!
